How to clean up your LinkedIn, X and Reddit feeds

LinkedIn won't turn off its feed, X won't hide trends, Reddit charges to remove ads. What each site lets you change, and how to hide the rest.

23 October 2026 · 3 min read

Most of us open LinkedIn, X or Reddit for something specific: a message, one account, a thread. Each site greets you with something else first, because that's how it keeps you there.

None of the three gives you a setting to switch the distracting part off. Here's what each does offer, and how to hide the rest on desktop.

LinkedIn: the home feed

What LinkedIn offers: no way to turn the home feed off. Its settings change your notifications, not the feed.

In your browser: a small tool can hide the feed on the home page, so LinkedIn opens on a quiet page with just the top bar, and add a Show feed button for the times you do want to scroll. See How to hide the LinkedIn feed.

What X offers: its Explore settings only choose which location your trends come from. There's no option to hide them.

In your browser: a tool can remove the Trending and What's happening panel and the Who to follow box from every page. See How to hide trending topics on X.

Reddit: promoted posts and the sidebar

What Reddit offers: Reddit Premium removes ads, for a monthly fee. Without it, you can hide or report promoted posts one at a time, which doesn't stop the next one.

In your browser: a tool can hide every promoted post in the feed and in comment threads, and the right-hand sidebar, each time Reddit shows them. See How to hide promoted posts on Reddit.

Why a tool per site

Each of these sites is built differently, so each needs its own tool, made for that site. Every guide above ends with a request you can paste into ScriptPanda on that site. It reads the page you're on, writes the tool and runs it, and the change stays each time you open the site in that browser.

You can also go further than the guides. A few requests to try:

  • LinkedIn: "Hide the feed and the news panel on the right of the home page."
  • X: "Hide the For you tab, so the home page opens on Following."
  • Reddit: "Hide posts from these three subreddits in my home feed."

Keeping a way back

Hiding something completely can feel good for a week and then get in the way. Asking for a button that brings the hidden part back, as the LinkedIn guide does, keeps the choice with you.

What this won't do

  • It works in Chrome on a computer. The phone apps are untouched.
  • It changes what you see, not your account. The sites' algorithms work as before.
  • These sites change their pages often. When a hidden part reappears, open the site and ask ScriptPanda to fix the tool for the page as it is now.

The short version

LinkedIn, X and Reddit each keep their most distracting part out of reach of their own settings. In your browser, a small tool per site can hide it, with a button to bring it back when you actually want it.
